Brussels Sprouts Gratin with Minced Meat

An interesting recipe for baked Brussels sprouts with minced meat.

Ingredients

  • Brussels sprouts – 500 g
  • Minced meat (chicken, etc.) – 500 g
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Eggs – 1-2 pcs.
  • Butter – 50 g
  • Olive oil – 1 tbsp
  • Bread crumbs – 3-4 tbsp
  • Ground paprika – 0.5 teaspoon.
  • Sea salt – to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Champignons (optional) – 4-5 pcs.
  • Carrots (optional) – 1 pc.

Directions

  1. Prepare the required foods from the list.
  2. Pour Brussels sprouts with water, add a little salt, boil for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Let the cabbage cool slightly, cut the large heads in two. Season the Brussels sprouts with butter.
  4. Heat vegetable oil and butter in a skillet. Cut the onion into small cubes, fry for 5 minutes.
  5. Add minced meat to a pan with onions, fry for 5-7 minutes. As soon as the protein curdles and the minced meat turns white, turn off the stove. (If you are preparing a dish with minced chicken breast or minced beef, it is advisable to add a few finely chopped champignons or grated carrots to it, they will make the minced meat juicier and tastier.)
  6. Transfer the fried minced meat to a convenient dish, cool slightly. Season with salt to taste, pepper, add paprika and egg, stir.
  7. Grease a baking dish with butter, sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Place half of the Brussels sprouts in the pan.
  8. Place the fried and seasoned minced meat on the cabbage layer. Next, layout the remaining cabbage.
  9. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top and add a few slices of butter. Bake Brussels sprouts with minced meat in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
  10. Serve Brussels sprouts and minced meat gratin as a main course.
