Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup mineral water, (carbonated)
  • 3 cup flour
  • 2 cup / s sugar
  • 4 egg (s)
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 1 lemon (s)

For the cast:

  • 1 lemon (s)
  • 500 g powdered suar
  • Food coloring, (colors as you like)
  • 1 packet marshmallow (s)

Instructions

  1. For all of the above ingredients which are given in cups, I always use large cups, which is then sufficient for a tray.
  2. Mix the oil, mineral water, flour, sugar, eggs, baking powder, vanilla sugar and the juice of one lemon and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 200 degrees for 25-30 minutes (stick test). Let the cake cool down.
  3. Use a large knife to cut off the top of the cake so that the entire surface is straight. Now cut building blocks of the desired size from the cake. (Tip: turn the cake over, as the back is flatter and easier to coat later)
  4. Decoration:
  5. Mix the powdered sugar with lemon and food coloring to a sticky mass that is easy to spread. Paint all building blocks in the desired color.
  6. Halve the marshmallows and skewer 1 piece each with a fork (I always skewer the side that later rests on the building block) and use a knife to spread the colorful icing sugar paste all around. 2-6 half marshmallows are placed on a building block (just like the real Lego blocks).

  8. If you want to make the building blocks in different colors, you start with one color and first process this and then process the other colors little by little, as the powdered sugar paste quickly solidifies.
