Cabbage Pie Made from Homemade Puff Pastry

The recipe is a godsend, just a magic wand! Yeast puff pastry that can be prepared in advance and with your eyes closed! A very simple recipe, but at the same time an incredibly tasty dough turns out! Any filling can be used, today we will prepare a delicious cabbage pie! I don’t know about you, but we haven’t tasted such a delicious pie for a long time! Prepare and check for yourself!

Ingredients

  • Flour – 600 g
  • Warm milk – 260 ml
  • Dry yeast – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Butter (soft) – 300 g
  • Salt – a pinch
    For filling:
  • Young white cabbage – 1 kg
  • Eggs – 3 pcs.
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Ground nutmeg – 1 pinch
  • Vegetable oil – for frying

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk for 5 minutes.
  2. Then mix the flour and salt.
  3. Add the egg and milk with yeast.
  4. Knead well, you should get a soft and elastic dough.
  5. Divide the dough into two equal parts and cover with foil right on the table. Let it stand for 10 minutes, it will be easier to work with it.
  6. Roll out each half into a 3 mm thick rectangle.
    Divide the soft butter equally into each of the layers and distribute it evenly over the dough. Then we fold the dough into a tight roll.
  7. Roll the roll into a spiral. There should be two snails.
    We remove the bags and send them to the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
  8. During this time, we will prepare the filling.
  9. Boil the eggs hard-boiled (usually after boiling it takes exactly 6 minutes).
    Finely chop the young cabbage and salt it lightly. Remember to gently mash the cabbage.
  10. Fry the cabbage in a little vegetable oil, over high heat, until tender. Young cabbage cooks quickly, should be halved in volume.
  11. Add salt to taste, black pepper and nutmeg.
  12. Let the cabbage cool (you can put it in a cup, it will be faster), and in the meantime, prepare the rest of the ingredients for the filling.
  13. Grind the greens.
  14. Cut the eggs into cubes.
  15. Mix the cabbage well with eggs and herbs.
  16. We take the dough out of the refrigerator, in no case do we knead. Roll out the “snail” into a rectangle.
  17. We transfer to the prepared form (our form is 16×28 cm), the edges should hang down well. We spread the filling until we have eaten all of it. 🙂
  18. Cover the filling with the edges of the dough, pinch the top of the pie. If necessary, remove the excess dough. Lubricate the dough on top with whipped yolk and send to the oven. Our mold is ceramic, we put it in a cold oven, the rest of the molds can be put in a preheated one up to 200 degrees.
  19. The cabbage pie was baked in our oven for 28 minutes, you focus on your oven.
