Cabbage with Sauerkraut

Sauerkraut cabbage is a Ukrainian soup, the main ingredient of which is sauerkraut. Thanks to the cabbage, the dish acquires a sour taste and wonderful aroma. Cabbage with millet is being prepared.

Ingredients

  • Meat (any) – about 1 kg
  • Potatoes – 600 g
  • Carrots – 1 pc.
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Sauerkraut – 400 g
  • Millet – 0.5 cups
  • Tomato paste – 3 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil – 3 tbsp
  • Salt
  • Pepper (pepper mix)
  • Garlic
  • Fresh greens – to taste
  • Bay leaf – to taste
  • Water – 3 l

Directions

  1. Prepare food. Rinse the millet well and polish the vegetables.
  2. The first step is to prepare the meat broth. It can be anything: pork, beef, and poultry will do. I have a chicken. After the broth boils, remove the foam, add bay leaves and peppercorns. Cook for 30 minutes. After drain.
  3. Send millet to boil. Approximately 30 minutes.
  4. Add chopped potatoes and carrots.
  5. Fry finely chopped onion and garlic in vegetable oil, add tomato paste and simmer for 2-3 minutes. After the potatoes are soft, fry them into the soup. At the end of cooking add cabbage and cook for another 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Season with sour cream or mayonnaise before serving.
