Ingredients

  • 4 handfuls squid rings, unbreaded, frozen
  • 1 small onion (s)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 can tomato (s), chunky
  • 1 tablespoon, heaped salad herbs, dried
  • Salt and pepper, freshly ground
  • some honey or sugar beet syrup
  • possibly chili powder

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in the pan, cut the onions in half and then cut into strips and fry briefly together with the finely weighed garlic.
  2. Add the thawed and squeezed calamari and fry well and season with a little salt. Then add the chunky tomatoes from the can and let everything boil down a little. Season with salt and pepper and add the salad herbs. Simmer for about 5 minutes on a low heat and season with sugar beet syrup as a counterpoint to the acidity and possibly chilli.
  3. Rice goes very well with it.
  4. If you prepare the rice at the same time and the calamari are thawed, the preparation takes about 1/2 hour and is really tasty and makes a difference. Even beginners can do that!
