Ingredients

  • 300 g bacon, smoked or salted
  • olive oil
  • 250 g beef, finely chopped
  • 1 can beans, white
  • 1 can beans, red
  • 1 can beans, Borlotti
  • 1 clove garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1 medium onion (s), chopped
  • 1 can tomato (s), chopped
  • 1 dl tomato juice
  • 1 bunch thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 medium chilli
  • 1 teaspoon, heaped coriander
  • 1 teaspoon, heaped caraway seeds, ground
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 dash maple syrup
  • 1 bunch parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Cut the bacon into finger-thick pieces and fry in a little olive oil for a few minutes. Gradually add the garlic, onions, chilli and a bay leaf. Keep frying, stirring constantly. Add the chopped beef and season with ground caraway and coriander seeds. Fry everything together for a few more minutes.
  2. Add the thyme and the chopped tomatoes and the juice and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Then mix in all the beans and simmer on a low fire for about 10 minutes.
  4. At the end, add a dash of maple syrup and just before serving, add the parsley.
  5. I recommend a fried egg and bread roasted in the oven.
