Instructions

  1. Cut the white bread into small cubes and place in a bowl. Warm the milk and dissolve half of the cheese in it. Grate or dice the other half. Add to the dumpling bread together with the eggs, salt and flour. Knead the mixture well and let it rest for about 15 minutes.
  2. Shape into round dumplings and flatten them by hand. Fry the pressed dumplings in butter on both sides until they are brown. In the meantime, bring plenty of water to the boil in a saucepan and let the pressed dumplings boil in it. Cooking time: approx. 8-10 minutes.
  3. The pressed dumplings are served in a meat broth with fried onions or with coleslaw.
  4. Tip: Depending on your taste, you can also add a tablespoon of chives to the dumpling mixture.

About Editorial Staff

The Boss Kitchen editorial staff oversees content review, fact-checking, and recipe verification across the site. Published articles pass through the editorial team before going live, ensuring ingredient lists, techniques, cooking times, and nutritional claims hold up in a home kitchen. The team coordinates contributions across the site writers, handles reader corrections, and maintains consistency in measurement conventions, safety guidance, and dietary labeling. Posts under this byline typically represent team-reviewed reference material, site announcements, or editorial roundups rather than individual-author features, and they are held to the same sourcing standards as bylined recipe and product coverage.
