Ingredients

  • 0.5 ½ cube yeast
  • 200 ml water, lukewarm
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ sugar
  • 300 grams flour
  • 3 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme or rosemary
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg yolk, for brushing
  • 30 g cheese or
  • 100 g bacon, diced, fried (for ham snails)

Instructions

  1. Mix the yeast crumbled with a little water and sugar. Add 1 tablespoon flour and let rest for about 15 minutes.
  2. Add the rest of the water, oil, flour, thyme and salt and knead well.
  3. Let rise in a warm place for 40 minutes. (Knead in the bacon for ham snails)
  4. Knead the dough again and divide into 8-12 parts and roll into long, finger-thick sausages. Then shape snails from it.
  5. Let rise for another 20 minutes on a tray.
  6. Mix the egg yolks and spread them over the snails. Sprinkle with cheese. and bake in the oven at 200 ° top and bottom heat for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool down.
