Chocolate Rice Porridge with Walnuts

Ingredients

  • Rice – 100 g
  • Milk – 500 ml
  • Butter – 25 g
  • Sugar – 1.5 tbsp
  • Walnuts – 30 g + for serving
  • Cocoa powder – 2 teaspoons with a slide
  • Salt – 1 pinch

Directions

  1. Prepare all the ingredients you need to make Chocolate Walnut Rice Porridge. It is very important to use high-quality cocoa powder to make the porridge tasty and aromatic.
  2. Melt the butter in a heavy saucepan. Add dry rice.
  3. Fry the rice over medium heat, stirring constantly, for about a minute.
  4. Simultaneously with frying the rice, boil the milk with sugar and salt in another saucepan.
  5. Pour the boiling milk over the rice. Stir, bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and cook rice until tender. Do not go far from the stove, the milk will “run away” every now and then, remove the lid for a second to let the steam out, then cover again.
  6. As a result, the porridge should turn out to be vicious, the liquid will decrease by half in volume. Depending on the type of rice, the porridge will cook for 15-25 minutes.
  7. Pour cocoa powder into the finished rice milk porridge.
  8. Toss the rice porridge with the cocoa and cook for another 1 minute.
  9. Fry the walnut kernels in a dry frying pan and grind into coarse crumbs.
  10. Add walnuts to chocolate rice porridge.
  11. Stir. Remove the pot from the stove.
  12. Divide the rice porridge into bowls. Sprinkle walnuts over each serving if desired.
  13. Serve chocolate rice porridge with nuts immediately after cooking.
