Cut the ham into strips approx. 1 cm wide. Then cut it up again so that the pieces are roughly square. The onion, I prefer a red onion, peel and cut into small cubes. Wash the spring onions and cut into small rings. If you buy a bunch, the green part of the onions is enough.
Put everything together in a bowl and add the sugar. If necessary, add a pinch of salt and pepper to the bowl. Then everything is mixed with the mayonnaise. At the end, taste again and possibly add a little more sugar.
It tastes best when you prepare the salad in the evening and leave it to stand overnight.
