Deep-Fried Butternut Squash with Spicy Honey

Deep-fried snacks always attract with their appetizing appearance, aroma, and crispy crust, which is difficult to resist even for those who follow a healthy diet. But on days when you can indulge yourself, or want something out of the ordinary with simple ingredients, deep-fried pumpkin. Cut the butternut squash into thin slices, roll in a double breading of wheat flour, yogurt, cornmeal, and sage and sauté in oil. Sprinkle with a spicy hot sauce and honey before serving. Pumpkin slices are very crispy with an unusually sweet and spicy flavor.

Ingredients

  • 16 – 20 slices 0.3 cm thick peeled butternut squash (1 medium squash; grate on a mandolin)
  • 1.5 tablespoon. wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon. cornflour
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh sage
  • 1 tablespoon. yogurt or kefir
  • Vegetable oil, for deep fat
  • 1/4 Art. honey
  • 2 – 3 teaspoon hot sauce

Directions

  1. On a plate, mix 0.5 tbsp wheat flour and 0.5 teaspoon. salt. Whisk the remaining 1 tablespoon in a large bowl. l. wheat flour, cornflour, sage, and 2 teaspoon. salt. Pour the yogurt into a medium bowl.
  2. Dip the pumpkin slices in flour, dip in the yogurt, then roll in the corn mixture, shaking the excess back into the bowl. Place on a wire rack on a baking sheet.
  3. In a large saucepan with a thick bottom or sludge in a cauldron, heat 5 cm of vegetable oil to 175 ° C on a deep-fat thermo.
  4. Combine honey and hot sauce in a small bowl.
  5. Next, fry the pumpkin in batches, turning once, until golden brown, about 4 minutes (if necessary, adjust the heat to maintain the desired oil temperature).
  6. Transfer the finished slices with a slotted spoon to the wire rack to drain off excess fat. Salt. Serve hot or at room temperature sprinkled with hot honey.
