Ingredients

  • 750 g beef oulash
  • 500 g onion (s)
  • 250 g carrot (s)
  • 2 cloves garlic)
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 3 teaspoon paprika powder
  • 1 tablespoon ajvar
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable broth, e.g., Vegeta
  • 2 teaspoons seasoning (meat seasoning), e.g., from frozen
  • 1 can tomatoes, chunky, 400 g
  • 300 ml water
  • 2 piece (s) bay leaf
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 160 ° C fan oven or 180 ° C with top / bottom heat.
  2. Peel and finely dice onions, garlic and carrots. Heat the oil and butter in a roasting pan and fry the aforementioned ingredients, stirring occasionally (brown for approx. 30 minutes). After about 10 minutes add the sugar and caramelize with the root vegetables.
  3. In the meantime, pat the meat dry and cut it smaller if necessary. Put aside.
  4. Mix the paprika powder, ajvar, tomato paste, stock powder, meat seasoning, water and tomatoes to a paste in a bowl and add to the root vegetables in the pot. Stir.
  5. Finally, distribute the meat on top of the vegetables and add the bay leaves. Put the lid on and let it cook for 3 hours in the oven at 160 ° C.
  6. Then season with salt and pepper.
