Ingredients

  • 80 g butter
  • 1 cube yeast
  • 100 ml whole milk
  • 150 ml water, lukewarm
  • 90 ml honey, more liquid
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 500 g wheat flour type 550
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter over low heat and let it cool slightly. Warm the milk lukewarm and mix the yeast with the milk, 150 ml lukewarm water, 70 g honey and salt.
  2. Knead the yeast-milk mixture with the melted butter and flour to form a smooth dough. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for at least 1 hour.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C top / bottom heat or circulating air: 180 ° C. Knead the dough again, divide it into 3 pieces and shape each into an approx. 50 cm long roll.
  4. Mix the egg yolk with the rest of the honey and brush the rolls with it. Now braid the rolls into a braid.
  5. Place the braid on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, sprinkle with sugar-coated sugar and bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
