Ingredients

  • 10 rolls, fresh or stale
  • 0.5 liter ½ milk
  • 50 g butter
  • 3 egg (s)
  • 3 tablespoon flour
  • 1 large onion (s)
  • 1 packet parsley (frozen)
  • Salt water

Instructions

  1. Cut the rolls into thin slices and place in a large bowl. Peel and dice the onion.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Sweat the onion cubes until translucent and pour them over the bread rolls. In the same saucepan, bring the milk to the boil and pour over the rolls. Let the rolls soak in the milk, butter and onion mixture until they have cooled down enough to be touchable.
  3. Bring plenty of lightly salted water to the boil in a large saucepan. Knead the dough with your hands. Add eggs and parsley, knead again. Add the flour and knead again. The dough shouldn`t be too sticky or too dry.
  4. Form dumplings from the dough with wet hands and cook in the gently simmering salted water until the dumplings float on top.
