Puff Pastry Strudel with Cheese

by Editorial Staff

With puff pastry in the freezer, a delicious and flavorful cheese strudel can be cooked in just three minutes (plus baking time).

Cook: 40 mins

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • Yeast puff pastry – 500 g
  • Hard cheese – 300 g
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Flour – 1 tbsp

Directions

  1. Prepare all ingredients. Remove the dough from the freezer half an hour before cooking to defrost it.
10 minutes before cooking, turn on the oven (baking temperature – 180 ° C).
  2. Grate hard cheese on a grater with large holes.
  3. Shake the egg lightly with a fork, combining the yolk and white.
  4. Spread a spoonful of flour on a flat surface of the table and put the dough on it. Use a rolling pin to roll it into a layer about 0.5 cm thick and 30 * 40 cm in size.
  5. Using a cooking brush, apply the beaten egg all over the dough. Leave some eggs to grease the surface of the strudel.
  6. Spread the grated cheese over the entire surface of the puff pastry.
  7. Roll the dough into a roll.
  8. Blind the edges of the roll together so that the cheese does not flow out when heated.
  9. Transfer the strudel with cheese to a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  10. Brush the surface of the strudel with an egg too.
  11. Bake puff pastry strudel with cheese in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
The dough increased in volume and browned, became an appetizing brown colour.
  12. It is better to cut the strudel slightly cooled so that the hot cheese does not flow out of the roll.
  13. A little thin dough and a lot of delicious cheese filling – a dream!
  14. Such a roll can be taken with you on the road or served as an addition to the main dish.
