Puff Pastry Strudel with Cherries and Nuts Instructions

  1. Prepare all required ingredients.
From this number of ingredients, I prepared 2 small strudels, but, if desired, you can make 1 large strudel.
Throw the cherries on a sieve to drain the excess juice.
Melt the butter in advance and cool.
Grind the walnuts with a blender or knife until finely crumbled.
Turn on the oven and preheat to 180 degrees.
  2. Add starch to the cherries and mix.

  3. Put the puff pastry on a table dusted with flour and cut into two parts. Roll out each part of the dough to a thickness of 1-2 mm.
  4. Lubricate the top with a thin layer of melted butter.
  5. On top, not reaching the edge of the dough 1-2 cm, evenly distribute half of the breadcrumbs and nuts.

  6. Put a layer of cherries on top (half of the total) and sprinkle with 50 g of sugar.
  7. Roll up the layer of dough with cherries and nuts into a tight roll.
In the same way, form a strudel from the second part of the dough and the remaining filling.
  8. Transfer the formed rolls to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Break the egg into a small bowl and loosen it with a fork.
Grease the rolls with an egg on top.
  10. Bake the rolls in the oven at 170-180 degrees for about 25 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
  11. Serve this strudel with cherries and nuts hot or completely cooled.
If you wish, you can generously sprinkle each strudel with powdered sugar before serving.

Bon Appetit!
