Ingredients

  • 250 g flour
  • 2 teaspoons dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 pinches salt
  • Oil, for deep-frying

Instructions

  1. Process all ingredients into a dough with lukewarm water as required. It has to be quite runny, like for crêpes or pancakes. Cover and let the dough rise for at least 45 minutes. It has to increase its volume significantly, otherwise the balls will not become fluffy.
  2. Heat the oil and reduce the flame, otherwise they will burn. Put small balls with two spoons in the hot oil and fry for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Lay out a kitchen roll on a plate and place the balls on top so that the oil is absorbed.
  4. If you want the balls sweeter, you can add more sugar to the dough. You can sprinkle them with powdered sugar, cinnamon and sugar.
