An original quick snack with only four ingredients. Colorful pumpkin slices are lightly toasted and then baked with bacon and cheese. The light sweetness of pumpkin successfully sets off the salty taste of cheese and aromatic bacon. In a few minutes, a bright and unusual snack is obtained. Try it!
Cook: 30 mins
Servings: 2
Ingredients
Pumpkin – 400 g
Hard cheese – 100 g
Bacon – 8 strips (100 g)
Vegetable oil (for frying) – 1 tbsp
Directions
Prepare foods from the list. Such pumpkin sandwiches cook quite quickly, so it is best to turn on the oven in advance to warm up to a temperature of 190-200 degrees.
Peel the pumpkin and cut into rectangles about 0.5 cm thick. The pumpkin slices should be slightly wider than the bacon strips and long enough to wrap the slices long enough to wrap the squash. In my case, it turned out 5×6.5 cm. Cut the cheese into slices the same size as the pumpkin slices. For each strip of bacon, there should be 2 slices of pumpkin and 1 slice of cheese, i.e. only 16 pieces of pumpkin and 8 cheese.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat. Fry the pumpkin slices for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until lightly golden brown. Repeat the process if necessary, frying all the pumpkin pieces.
Place a slice of cheese on each slice of toasted pumpkin. Cover the cheese with one slice of toasted pumpkin. You get a kind of “sandwiches” of pumpkin and cheese.
Wrap each resulting pumpkin sandwich with a strip of bacon.
Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place prepared pumpkin sandwiches a short distance apart.
Place the baking sheet in an oven preheated to 190-200 degrees (you can also grill) and bake for about 10 minutes, until the bacon is lightly browned and the cheese is melted.
The pumpkin cheese sandwiches are ready. Such an original hot appetizer is most delicious.
Bon Appetit!
