Stuffed Baked Apples with Gingerbread

Ingredients

4 apples, e.g. Boskoop (sour variety)

For the filling:

100 g inerbread, (without chocolate and wafers)
1 orange (s), grated peel
4 tablespoon raisins

For the cast:

2 dl cream
2 dl milk
3 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla sugar

Instructions

Chop the gingerbread into small cubes, mix with 8 tablespoons of cream and the grated orange peel and raisins.
Halve the apples and remove the core, place in a greased dish with the cavity facing up.
Put the filling in the apples.
For the topping, mix the cream, milk, sugar and vanilla sugar, pour over the apples.
Bake in the lower half of the oven at 180 ° for 30-40 minutes. In the meantime, baste the sauce from time to time.
Tips:
The raisins can also be replaced with nuts, or chopped walnuts or another variety can also be added.
Instead of the vanilla sugar, you can use the pulp of a real vanilla pod, but then add 4 tablespoons of sugar to the icing.
