Stuffed Cabbage Rolls with Corn Grits

Cabbage rolls with corn grits are a very tasty homemade dish without meat. The stuffed cabbage rolls are bright and juicy. They will certainly take their rightful place in your menu. Thanks to the corn grits, cabbage rolls are very unusual in taste. This dish is definitely worth trying!

Servings: 4

Ingredients

White cabbage – 1 pc. (1.4 kg)
Corn groats – 150 g
Carrots – 4-5 pcs. (500 g)
Bulb onions – 2 pcs. (170 g)
Vegetable oil – 100 ml
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper – to taste

Directions

  1. We prepare the necessary products.
  2. Pour water into a large saucepan or cauldron and set to heat. Cut the stalk from the cabbage.
  3. Salt boiling water. We dip the cabbage into it. If you have a small saucepan, boil the cabbage for 7 minutes, then turn it over and cook for another 7 minutes. If the cabbage is completely covered in boiling water, cook for only 7 minutes.
  4. We wash the corn grits and pour boiling water for 2-3 minutes. The groats should swell a little.
  5. Then we rinse the groats again, put them on a sieve. Transfer to a bowl.
  6. Peel the onion and cut into cubes.
  7. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the onion until soft, 3-4 minutes.
  8. Peel and rub the carrots on a coarse grater.
  9. Add carrots to onions and fry vegetables for another 5 minutes.
  10. We disassemble the boiled cabbage into leaves.
  11. Cut off thickenings from the leaves. If you plan to make large cabbage rolls, leave the leaves intact. I cut the cabbage leaves in half.
  12. Put the fried vegetables to the corn grits, salt and pepper. We mix.
  13. We begin to form cabbage rolls. We spread the cabbage leaf. We put 1 tablespoon on it. a spoonful of filling.
  14. We wrap the filling in a cabbage leaf and form a cabbage roll. We form the rest of the cabbage rolls in the same way. I got 20 pieces.
  15. Place the cabbage rolls tightly in a cauldron or saucepan.
  16. Fill with boiling water 1 cm above the cabbage rolls. We put the cauldron on heating and simmer the cabbage rolls over low heat under the lid for 30 minutes. Then turn off the heating and let the dish brew for another 30 minutes.
  17. Stuffed cabbage rolls with corn grits are ready.
