Pre-toast the bread and lightly butter. Top with the cooked ham and cheese, cut off the protruding edges. Then put an onion ring in the middle of each toast, just enough to fit an egg yolk that has not melted. Season the egg yolks with salt, pepper and paprika to taste. If you like, you can also top it with very fine strips of cut Gouda cheese.
