Ingredients

  • g 1,000 minced lamb or mixed
  • 500 g potato (s)
  • 500 g tomato (s), aromatic
  • 1 bunch parsley, smooth, chopped, large bunch
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • Thyme
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for the pan
  • Basil, fresh or dried
  • N / A Chilli pepper (s), fresh or dried
  • Garlic
  • 1 onion (s), finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into not too thin slices. Put the olive oil in a large baking dish and lay out the potatoes on the bottom of the dish. It can also be two or more layers. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Mix the minced meat with onions, chopped parsley, thyme, cumin, pepper and salt, add chilli and garlic if necessary. Can be seasoned spicy, but be careful with the chilli, it will stay on until the next day and can become hotter! Spread the minced meat mixture on the potatoes and press down.
  3. Cut the tomatoes into slices and spread them on the minced meat. Season well with pepper and salt, then sprinkle with basil.
  4. Put the lid on the pan and put it in the oven. A large baking dish takes approx. 60 minutes +/-, small forms 30 - 45 minutes. Gas: Level 4 - 5 or 220 ° C (top / bottom heat, here I would preheat). I only have a simple gas stove with bottom heat, so I can`t estimate how long the casserole will take with other types of stove. However, it is not so tragic with this casserole if it is sizzled a few more minutes. We always make it in a larger shape so that it can be eaten the next day.
  5. This casserole doesn`t need eggs, rolls, or cheese. The sauce forms by itself through the minced meat and tomatoes.
  6. You can also add pizza tomatoes or tomato paste to the minced meat and the spices you like best, it`s all a question of taste. The amount of spices can be varied. But cumin should be included, it gives the whole thing an oriental touch. At least that`s how my mother-in-law from Lebanon cooked it, we thought it was delicious and roughly kept it that way.
  7. The casserole is tasty, easy to cook because you don`t always have to be careful, and inexpensive, especially for families with children. Even when it`s done, it`s still hot as hell, so you still have a little time until you`ve got everyone at the table.
