Barley Porridge with Mushrooms in a Pot

Great dish! Barley porridge with mushrooms is very tasty and healthy.

Cook: 2 hour

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • Pearl barley – 1.5 cups
  • Mushrooms – 400 g
  • Bulb onions – 2-3 pcs.
  • Vegetable oil – 30 g
  • Salt – 0.5 tbsp (to taste)
  • Parsley – to taste

Directions

  1. Products for barley porridge with mushrooms in front of you.
  2. Rinse the barley porridge well.
  3. Peel and wash onions. Cut into cubes.
  4. Wash and chop the mushrooms.
  5. Preheat a frying pan, pour in vegetable oil. Fry the mushrooms on the highest heat, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Put the mushrooms in another dish.
  7. Put onion in vegetable oil. Fry, stirring occasionally, 1-2 minutes.
  8. Then add pearl barley. Fry all the time, stirring occasionally, until the cereal is golden brown.
  9. Add mushrooms, salt and mix everything well.
  10. Boil the kettle. Put the porridge in the pots.
  11. Pour boiling water (or broth) over the porridge so that the liquid rises 2-2.5 cm above the cereal.
  12. Place the pots on the middle shelf in the cold oven. Bake pearl barley porridge with mushrooms for 20 minutes at a temperature of 230-240 degrees. Then reduce the temperature to 160-170 degrees. Simmer porridge for another 60-70 minutes.
  13. Barley porridge with mushrooms in a pot is ready. Serve as a side dish or as a stand-alone dish during the fast.
