Barley Porridge with Minced Meat and Vegetables

Pearl barley – groats are not only quite tasty but also healthy. If you do not like this cereal because it seems a little dry to you, then I recommend cooking it with minced meat, tomatoes, carrots, and onions. Barley porridge with minced meat and vegetables will be tasty and juicy.

Ingredients

  • Pearl barley – 150 g
  • Minced meat – 200 g
  • Carrots – 1 pc.
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Tomato – 1 pc.
  • Tomato paste – 2 tbsp
  • Garlic – 1 clove
  • Green onion (for serving) – 2 feathers
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp

Directions

  1. Cut the carrots into circles. Cut the onion into small cubes.
  2. Cut the tomatoes into medium-sized pieces. Chop the garlic.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Put the onions and carrots in the heated oil, fry them over moderate heat for a minute.
  4. Put minced meat with vegetables, fry it for a minute. Then add 0.5 teaspoons of salt, sugar, and tomato paste. Fry for another minute.
  5. Put the tomatoes in a frying pan with minced meat, carrots, and onions. Let’s mix.
  6. Then add the garlic. Fry over medium heat for another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Pour 300 ml of water into a saucepan, bring it to a boil, add 0.5 teaspoons of salt, add washed barley. We will cook the cereals for 20-25 minutes over moderate heat.
  8. Put the pearl barley porridge in a pan with minced meat and vegetables.
  9. Mix well.
  10. When serving, sprinkle the barley with minced meat and vegetables with chopped green onions.
