- 1.2 kg pork schnitzel
- 1 vegetable onion (s)
- 6 clove (s) garlic
- 4 tablespoon spice mix for gyros
- 8 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 bay leaves
- 4 teaspoons dried thyme
- 400 ml cream
- 200 g cream cheese
- 10 cl Metaxa
- 250 g sheep cheese or feta
- Salt and pepper, freshly ground
- Cayenne pepper
- Sauce thickener

- Wash the pork schnitzel, pat dry and cut into very narrow strips. Peel and dice the onion. Squeeze the garlic. Mix the meat with the oil, onions, garlic, gyros spice, bay leaves and thyme and cover and marinate in the refrigerator for about 12 hours.
- Sear the gyros in a pan and lightly season with salt. Deglaze with 6 cl Metaxa. Add the cream and processed cheese to the pan and simmer until the cheese has melted. Season with pepper, cayenne pepper and the remaining metaxa and thicken the sauce.
- Divide between 4 portion casserole dishes and sprinkle with crumbled sheep cheese. Baked at 180 ° C until the cheese has melted.
- Fresh flatbread tastes very good with it, but Djuvec rice or French fries also go well with it.
