Dough for Tartlets

Regardless of which recipe for tartlets is chosen, the dough for “baskets” with various fillings can be simple flaky. Also, recipes for tartlet dough suggest baking the base of this wonderful shortcrust pastry snack. How to do it?

Ingredients

  • Flour – 5 tbsp (150 g)
  • Cold water – 1.5 tbsp (25 g)
  • Butter – 2.5 tbsp (50 g)
  • Salt – 1 pinch

Directions

  1. Prepare the ingredients for the dough for the tartlets.
  2. Combine flour with water and salt.
  3. Add oil (the oil should be very soft).
  4. Mix everything thoroughly.
  5. Knead the dough and place in the cold for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out a thin cake from the chilled dough (no thicker than 0.5 cm).
  7. Cut out circles from the dough with a metal mold with corrugated edges (or a glass).
  8. Place them in molds (oiled if necessary). Press the dough firmly so that it covers the bottom and sides of the tins well.
  9. How to bake tartlets
  10. To keep the tartlets in shape during the baking process, fill the tins with dough with dry peas or beans. Turn on the oven.
  11. Bake for 20 minutes at 200 ° C. Tilt the finished tartlets onto the board, pour out the load from them.
  12. From this amount of products, 10-15 tartlets are obtained.
  13. When cool, fill with filling. For the filling, use a variety of herring pastes, sprat or other canned fish, mashed with butter. All types of boiled meat, ham, liver, mushrooms, pates, cheese, any salads are also suitable.
  14. Tartlets filled with filling should be beautifully decorated with thick mayonnaise or butter using a pastry bag, you can decorate with herbs and olives.
