Ingredients

  • 250 grams sugar
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 200 ml condensed milk, (10%)
  • 250 ml milk
  • 50 g butter

Instructions

  1. It is best to prepare the caramel in a coated pan or saucepan, so nothing can burn.
  2. Melt the butter in the pan / saucepan. Add sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt and let it melt briefly.
  3. Add milk and condensed milk and stir well until everything has dissolved.
  4. Turn the stove down (on medium setting, but preferably the lowest setting) and simmer for a good 45-60 minutes, please stir at least every 5 minutes so that nothing can burn.
  5. The time is relatively variable, it depends on the stove and whether you use a pot or a pan.
  6. From the 40th minute you should always take some of the caramel and test the consistency, i.e. let some of the caramel drizzle onto a plate.
  7. If it becomes firm, it is just right and the Dulce de Leche can be filled into glasses (please be careful! Is super hot)
  8. It is best to store the glasses in the refrigerator, so it reaches the perfect degree of hardness and stays fresh longer.
  9. Now you can spread it on bread, use it for pies or cakes, etc.
  10. Sufficient for approx. 1 glass of 400ml!
