Irish Meat Stew

Meat stew is one of our family’s favorite dishes. It can be made in a slow cooker, in an oven, or in a cauldron. We love it for its simplicity and taste, and I’ll tell you how to cook Irish-style meat stew.

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • Beef – 600 Grams
  • Salt – 3 Teaspoons
  • Olive Oil – 1/3 Cup
  • Garlic – 6 Cloves
  • Beef Broth – 4 Glasses
  • Water – 2 Glasses
  • Beer – 1 Glass
  • Red wine – 1 Glass
  • Tomato paste – 2 Tbsp. spoons
  • Sugar – 1 Tbsp. the spoon
  • Dried Thyme – 1 Teaspoon
  • Worcestershire Sauce – 1 Tbsp the spoon
  • Bay leaf – 2 pieces
  • Butter – 2 Tbsp. spoons
  • Potatoes – 4 Pieces
  • Onion – 1 Piece
  • Carrots – 2 Pieces
  • Ground pepper – To taste
  • Parsley – To taste

Directions

  1. Cut the meat into small pieces. Heat the oil in a heavy-walled saucepan and place the meat in a single layer.
  2. Fry each piece on all sides until golden brown.
  3. Add chopped garlic to the meat, after 1 minute pour in broth, water, wine, beer, add tomato paste, sugar, dried thyme, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  4. Cut the onions and carrots into cubes. Preheat a separate saucepan and lay out the onions and carrots, fry the vegetables for about 15 minutes.
  5. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small pieces, put the fried vegetables and potatoes in a saucepan for the meat, salt and pepper, cook for another 40-50 minutes.
  6. Turn off heat and remove bay leaf, serve stew with resulting gravy and garnish with chopped parsley.
