Lentil dishes are distinguished by their nutritional value and usefulness. Bell peppers, apples, and curry add flavor to the lentils with an interesting texture. The apples are completely dissolved during the cooking process and a delicious thick gravy is obtained. This dish will become a worthy side dish and will delight you with its taste!
Ingredients
Green lentils – 150 g
Bulgarian red pepper – 200 g (1 pcs.)
Apples – 200 g (2 pcs.)
Red onion – 70 g (0.5 pcs.)
Salt – 0.5 teaspoon
Ground black pepper – on the tip of a knife
Curry – 1 teaspoon
Water – 350 ml
Vegetable oil – 2 tbsp
Parsley (for serving) – 2-3 sprigs
Directions
Prepare the necessary foods. I used sour apples (Antonovka variety) and green lentils. With other varieties of apples and lentils, the dish will differ in consistency and taste.
Rinse the lentils under running water. Then fill with cold water and leave for 20-25 minutes.
Peel the bell peppers and cut them into small cubes. Peel and finely chop the onion. Cut the apples into 4 parts, remove the inner part with seeds, and cut the peel. Cut the peeled apples into medium-sized pieces.
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and add chopped onion. Fry, stirring occasionally, over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
Add apples and bell peppers to the onions.
While stirring, fry everything together for another 4-5 minutes.
Place the soaked lentils in a sieve, let the water drain, and place the lentils in the skillet.
Add curry, water and bring to a boil.
Stir and, after boiling, cook over low heat, covering the pan with a lid, until the lentils are fully cooked.
I had my lentils ready in about 40 minutes.
The finished dish can be supplemented with a sprig of parsley and served.
Enjoy your meal!
