New Year’s Cookies “Lovely Pigs”

I propose a recipe for a simple New Year’s baking. Homemade delicious shortbread cookies in the shape of pig faces will be more relevant than ever this New Year 2019!

Cook: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • Sifted wheat flour – 200 g
  • Chilled butter (or margarine) – 120 g
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Sugar – 40 g
  • Vanilla sugar – 10 g
  • Salt – 1 pinch
  • Yolk (for greasing cookies) – 1 pc.
  • Raisins (for decoration) – 1 handful
  • Cold water (if necessary) – 1-2 tbsp

Directions

  1. Combine sifted flour, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt.
  2. Grate chilled butter (or margarine), constantly dipping it in flour.
  3. Lightly rub the resulting crumb with your hands.
  4. Add the egg to the crumb. Knead the dough. If the dough is too dry, you can add 1-2 tbsp of very cold water.
  5. You don’t need to knead for a long time, just collect the dough into a bun. Place the finished shortbread dough in a bag and put in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle flour on the work surface and rolling pin, roll out the dough into a thin layer. Can be immediately rolled out on parchment.
  7. Using a glass and a shot glass, cut out the circles. I have a diameter of large circles – 5.5 cm, small – 3.5 cm. Small circles should be 1.5 times larger than large ones.
  8. Grease large circles with shaken yolk, put smaller circles on top – these will be “piglets” of pigs.
  9. Cut the remaining small circles into four parts.
  10. From the obtained triangles we make “ears” for the pigs.
  11. With the help of a juice tube, squeeze out 2 holes in the “patches”. “Eyes” can be made from raisins or you can also squeeze out the holes with a tube.
  12. We bake cookies in the form of pigs at a temperature of 180 degrees for 13-15 minutes, until golden.
