Ingredients

  • 1 kg potato (s), floury boiling
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 1 medium onion (s)
  • Milk, as needed
  • 150 g butter

Instructions

  1. First clean and peel the potatoes. Then cook in a pressure cooker for about 15 minutes or cook in a normal saucepan for 25 minutes.
  2. During this time, peel the onion and cut into small cubes. Steam these in approx. 50 g hot butter until translucent. Remove the onions from the pan and place in a small bowl with the butter. Melt the remaining butter over low heat and keep warm. The butter must not overheat or burn, otherwise the puree will taste bitter.
  3. After the cooking time, press the potatoes into a sufficiently large bowl with a potato press. Now fold in the melted butter and onions. Then adjust the consistency of the puree with warm milk as required.
  4. Finally, season with salt. Please keep in mind that butter is the flavor carrier. If you like less butter, you can reduce it.
