Drain the tomatoes on a sieve. Finely chop or crush the onion and garlic and fry in oil until translucent. Add the bacon and fry for 2-3 minutes. Put the tomatoes in the pan with the bacon, season with chilli, pepper and salt (be careful: the bacon is often very salty) and simmer for a few minutes. Cut the basil into fine strips.
Serve the pasta with the sauce and sprinkle the basil strips on top. Serve with freshly grated parmesan.
