Ingredients

  • 320 g flour
  • 160 g butter
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 225 g butter, soft
  • 125 g honey
  • 60 g suar
  • 200 g suar, brown
  • 60 ml whipped cream
  • 450 g nuts (pecans), rouhly chopped

Instructions

  1. Make a shortcrust pastry from the first five ingredients and put it in the fridge. Then roll out on a floured work surface to approx. 25 x 40 cm, the dough should be approx. 1/2 cm thick. Limit with an extendable form or a double aluminum foil. Prick several times with a fork and prebake at 180 degrees for 15 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, simmer the butter, honey, sugar and brown sugar over a medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly until the mixture turns golden brown. Remove from the fire, stir in the cream, mix in the nuts.
  3. Spread the mixture on the floor and bake again at 200 degrees for about 15 minutes. Make sure that the mass does not get too dark.
  4. When cool, cut into strips 1.5x3cm or 2.5 in size. Use a very sharp knife for this, possibly also an electric knife.
  5. Since pecans are quite expensive in Germany - I can imagine that these strips also taste very good with walnuts. But I haven`t tried it yet and a touch of orange peel also goes very well in these nut bars.
