Pizza Roll “Stromboli” Ingredients

For the dough:

  • Water (warm) – 300 ml
  • Dry yeast – 2 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1.5 teaspoon
  • Flour – 400-450 g
  • Sugar – a pinch
  • Olive oil – 2-3 tablespoons

For the sauce:

  • Tomatoes – 0.5 kg
  • Oregano
  • Sugar – 1 pinch
  • Salt – 1 pinch
  • Olive oil – 0.5 teaspoon

For filling:

  • Tomato sauce – 4-5 tablespoons
  • Green onion – 2 feathers
  • Cheese
  • Sausage (raw smoked)

Pizza Roll “Stromboli” Instructions

  1. Add yeast, a pinch of sugar, and three tablespoons of flour to warm water. Stir and let stand for 5 minutes. This will test and activate the yeast.
  2. Mix flour and salt, pour in the dough, and knead the dough.
  3. At the end of kneading, add a spoonful of olive oil to the dough. Knead well again and remove until the volume increases by 30-40 minutes.
  4. Today it is hot in the kitchen, the dough came in half an hour. We crush and divide into two parts.
  5. Let the dough stand for a while, but for now, let’s start filling.
  6. I made the tomato sauce in 7 minutes. Grated tomatoes without skin and seeds, added a little salt and oregano. I boiled it in a frying pan. Fleshy tomatoes – the result is a thick and tasty sauce.
  7. Cut the sausage, the thinner the better. In general, brisket, ham, fried bacon are also added to the Stromboli pizza. But, I remind you, today is a very hot day, I will manage with one uncooked smoked sausage, I do not want too fatty. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater, so it will be easier to distribute it, and finely chop the green onion.
  8. Pour a spoonful of olive oil onto the surface of the table and stretch half of the dough into a rectangle. Stretch thick edges well or just cut them off.
  9. The first way to form stromboli: spread the sauce, sausage, cheese, and onions over the entire surface.

  10. We wrap it in a roll, carefully seal the edges. We spread it on a prepared sheet (baking sheet) and make several cuts on top.

  11. The second way is even easier! Grease the stretched dough with sauce. Layout the sausage, cheese, and onion only from one edge and wrap it in a roll.
  12. We spread the rolls on a baking sheet covered with parchment. On the second roll, we also make several cuts on top. We put it in a preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, it all depends on the oven. We bake a pizza roll at a temperature of 220-230 degrees. Ideally, of course, it is better to bake one roll at a time.
  13. The pizza roll turned out to be excellent! Both are fine, but the second is more reliable. Tasty and original, you can cook for picnics, on the road.
