Potato Pie Stuffed with Minced Meat, Mushrooms and Boiled Eggs with Green Onions

A casserole pie made of mashed potatoes with three fillings – meat, mushroom, and egg – is a wonderful dish for a family dinner, very tasty, satisfying, and aromatic. And while making potato pie will take your time, it is definitely worth it!

Ingredients

  • Potatoes – 800 g
  • Champignons – 250 g
  • Minced meat – 300 g
  • Eggs – 5 pcs.
  • Flour – 3-4 tbsp
  • Butter – 50 g + for greasing the mold
  • Bulb onions – 1 pcs.
  • Green onion – 2-3 feathers
  • Bread crumbs – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Sunflower oil – for frying

Directions

  1. First, prepare the base for the pie – mashed potatoes. To do this, cut the potatoes into small pieces, cover with cold water, and put on high heat. When the water boils, reduce the heat and let the potatoes simmer for 25-30 minutes, until tender, adding salt 15 minutes after boiling.
  2. While the potatoes are cooking, prepare the fillings. Boil the eggs hard-boiled (8-10 minutes after boiling). Cool eggs in cold water and peel them. Peel and cut onions into small cubes.
  3. Melt the butter in a skillet and fry half the onions until light golden brown. Add minced meat to the onion.
  4. Salt and pepper the minced meat, fry for about 12-15 minutes over high heat, stirring occasionally.
    Transfer the sautéed minced meat from the skillet to a plate.
  5. Add vegetable oil to the same pan, heat it up and fry the second part of the onion, also until light golden brown. Peel the mushrooms and cut them into medium-sized pieces.
  6. Transfer the mushrooms to the pan with the onions. Fry the mushrooms over high heat, lightly salting, about 7 minutes. Grate boiled eggs on a coarse grater. Rinse green onions, dry, and cut into thin rings. Add onion to eggs and stir.
  7. By the time all three fillings are cooked, the potatoes will also boil. Drain the potatoes and mash them in a puree.
  8. Add butter, a raw egg, and one egg white to the puree (set aside to grease the cake). Stir in the mashed potatoes. Add flour. Mix thoroughly.
  9. Turn on the oven to heat up to 200 degrees. Grease a baking dish with butter. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on the bottom and sides of the pan. Place 2/3 of the mashed potatoes in a baking dish, forming the bottom and rims (filling hole).
  10. Place the fried mushrooms in the first layer. Put the egg and onion mixture on the mushrooms. Put the fried minced meat on the egg layer.

  12. Cover the filling with the remaining mashed potatoes and level the surface so that the filling is not visible anywhere and the pie is neat.
  13. Lubricate the surface of the pie with the set egg yolk and send to the oven preheated to 200 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Bake the pie until golden brown. Mashed potato pie stuffed with minced meat, mushrooms, and eggs are ready.
  14. Gently remove the finished cake from the mold and transfer it to a plate. Cut the pie into portions and serve hot.
