Sauerkraut with Pork

Recipe for cooking pork ribs stewed with sauerkraut, applesauce, yellow onions and chicken broth.

Ingredients

  • Pork Ribs – 1.8 Kilograms
  • Rapeseed oil – 2 tbsp
  • Sauerkraut – 1.8 Kilograms
  • Yellow Onions – 2 Pieces
  • Salt and Pepper – – To taste

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees. Season the pork lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a large saucepan over medium heat, add oil, then add two or three pork ribs. Fry the pork on one side for about 2 minutes. Turn the pork and cook for about 2 minutes more. Repeat with the remaining meat. Turn off the heat, place the meat on a plate and set aside.
  3. Add the applesauce to the saucepan and stir. Drain about half of the sauerkraut juice. Add to skillet and stir in applesauce.
  4. Place the pork on top of the sauerkraut and apple mixture.
  5. Cut the onion into 4 pieces. Place the onion on top of the pork. Cover and bake in the oven for an hour and a half.
  6. Check the liquid content and add broth if necessary so that the dish is not dry. Cover and simmer for another hour. Remove the lid and simmer for another 30 minutes. Let cool slightly and serve.
