Ingredients

  • 0.5 liter ½ milk
  • 25 g butter or 20 oil
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • 125 g semolina, (durum wheat semolina)
  • 1 medium egg (s)
  • Fat for frying
  • possibly applesauce

Instructions

  1. Bring the milk to the boil in a saucepan with the butter (or oil) and a pinch of salt. When the milk boils, remove the saucepan from the hob and stir in the semolina. Put the pot back on the plate and stir until a thick paste has formed, which takes about 1 minute, then stir in the egg.
  2. Put the porridge in a flat baking dish and let it cool down, after which it is best to put it in the refrigerator for a few hours.
  3. When the semolina has cooled completely, cut into slices. Heat the fat in a pan and fry the cuts until golden brown on both sides.
  4. Tastes great as an accompaniment to roast beef or game or as a main course with applesauce.
