Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 200 g butter, room temperature
  • 300 g suar
  • 6 egg (s)
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 1 shot rum
  • 200 g block or boilin chocolate, melted
  • 250 ml milk
  • 300 g flour, handy
  • 1 packet baking powder

For the cream:

  • 250 ml cream
  • 250 g chocolate, white (or white couverture)
  • Food coloring, yellow

For decoration:

  • 2 cups cake icing, white (fat icing)
  • 3 bars couverture, dark
  • 300 g powdered suar
  • Food coloring, blue, yellow and red
  • 400 g marzipan paste
  • 2 chocolate kisses (Swedish bombs or Dickmanns)
  • some cocoa powder
  • Fat for the baking sheet

Instructions

  1. Separate the eggs for the dough. Mix the butter, sugar, egg yolk and vanilla sugar together until frothy. Stir in the rum and melted chocolate. Add milk, flour and baking powder. Beat the egg white until frothy and carefully fold in with a spoon.
  2. I then put the dough on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and greased around the edges and baked it at 150 ° C for about 35 minutes (make a stick test!)
  3. I think 175 ° C would be appropriate in an electric oven.
  4. For the chocolate cream filling, bring the cream to the boil while stirring several times, remove from the fire and melt the white chocolate in it, then refrigerate for about 2 hours (it really has to be cooled well!). After cooling, beat the cream with the mixer until foamy and color it yellow with a little food coloring.
  5. Then you cut the sheet of dough in the middle (but not horizontally!) So that you have two squares of the same size. Because the corners of my sheet metal are a bit round, I had to cut something off the edge so that all the angles have a right angle. Now spread the whipped chocolate cream onto one square and place the other over it.
  6. You should now put this cake block in the cold for about 2 hours so that the cream becomes completely cold and it does not mix with the glaze later during glazing.
  7. For the cake icing, melt the white fat icing and color it yellow with food coloring (but didn`t want to take the color right, that`s why Spongebob is also a little pale). Then glaze the cake with it - the glaze sets pretty quickly, so it`s important to hurry!
  8. Now comes the artistic part: First you knead 200 g of marzipan paste with 100 g of powdered sugar and some yellow food coloring. From this you form two arms with your hands around four kebab skewers. I put an elongated dumpling of marzipan at the end for my hands, pressed it flat, cut three times and formed my fingers from it. For the legs you only cover the shashlik skewer in the middle with marzipan, 2 - 3 cm from the edge.
  9. For the trousers you knead 100 g marzipan paste with 50 g powdered sugar and some cocoa powder and 100 g marzipan paste with 50 g powdered sugar without color.
  10. Then you roll out the white marzipan between cling film and cut it so that it covers the lower part of the cake up to the border between Spongebob`s face and his shirt.
  11. You also roll out the brown marzipan, cut it to size and place it over the white marzipan until where the pants end (it`s best to print out a picture).
  12. I`m sure there`s still some of the white marzipan left over. You wrap a little of it as sleeves around Spongebob`s upper arms and as socks around the lower part of his feet. Use the rest of the brown to make trouser legs around the thighs. You can now color the last remnant of the white marzipan red, roll it out and cut out the tie - place it on the appropriate spot.
  13. Painting work:
  14. Melt the dark couverture in a water bath and use it to paint the contours of the face, shirt and tie. You can also spray on the belt.
  15. Wait until the couverture is dry. Then you mix powdered sugar with a little water and make the whites of the eyes, then color part blue and make the iris, and part red and splatter the cheeks. You also inject a red and a blue circle around the socks. However, it takes a while for the sugar to dry out.
  16. To finish, you put your arms on the sides of Spongebob and your legs at the bottom. The Swedish bombs or Dickmanns are attached to the bottom as shoes.
