Stewed Meat with Potatoes and Dumplings with Herbs and Garlic

Roast potatoes with beef and dumplings will turn your lunch into a real treat! The meat just melts in your mouth! The potatoes are soaked in meat juice and are very aromatic. And soft “pads” of dough with garlic, herbs, and carrots turn potatoes with meat into an original dish!

Ingredients

  • Beef – 500 g
  • Potatoes – 500 g
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc.
  • Carrots – 1 pc.
  • Flour – 200 g + for working with dough
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Sunflower oil – 50 ml
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Fresh dill – 2-3 branches
  • Fresh parsley – 2-3 sprigs
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground paprika – 1 teaspoon
  • Ground turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Hot drinking water – 1 l (as needed)

Directions

  1. Prepare the required ingredients. Peel and wash potatoes and carrots. Rinse and dry the dill and parsley. During the cooking process, you will need hot drinking water.
  2. Cut the beef pulp into small pieces.
  3. Heat sunflower oil in a cauldron, saucepan, or thick-walled saucepan and fry the beef over high heat until the color changes.
  4. Pour boiling water over the meat, add salt, ground pepper, paprika, and turmeric.
  5. Bring the liquid to a boil, reduce heat, and let the beef simmer for 30-40 minutes.
  6. While the beef is stewing, prepare the dumplings dough. Finely chop the dill and parsley.
  7. Grate 1/3 of carrots on a fine grater.
  8. In a bowl, combine the egg, dill, parsley, chopped carrots, salt, and black pepper. Peel the garlic, pass through a press and add to a bowl. Stir.
  9. Add flour and knead the dough, which will gather in a lump and hold the shape of a ball. Place the dough in a bag and let sit for 10 minutes.
  10. Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes. Cut the rest of the carrots into strips.
  11. Heat the sunflower oil in a skillet. Fry the onions and carrots over high heat for about 4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  12. Transfer the sautéed vegetables to the beef pot.
  13. Cut the potatoes into medium cubes.
  14. Spread the potatoes over the grilled meat.
  15. Pour in the salted boiling water so that the liquid barely covers the potatoes. Bring to a boil.
  16. Divide the dumplings dough into two parts, roll the sausages and cut into small “pillows”.
  17. Place the dumplings on top of the potatoes.
  18. Cover and simmer the meat with potatoes and dumplings over low heat for 25-30 minutes.
  19. The meat, stewed with potatoes and dumplings with spices and herbs, is ready.
