Strata is an American dish very similar to an oven-baked omelet or a casserole of eggs and other ingredients. I’m making a strat with croutons, spinach, and feta.
Servings: 4
Ingredients
Baby spinach – 170 g (6 cups)
White burger bread (cut into 2.5 cm cubes) – 5 slices
Large eggs – 6 pcs.
Milk – 1.5 cups
Feta cheese (crumbled) – 90 g (3/4 cup)
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper – to taste
Butter – 4 tbsp
Onions (finely chopped) – 1 pc.
Directions
Set the wire rack in the oven on a medium level, and turn on the oven itself for preheating to 200 degrees.
In a bowl, beat eggs with milk, half cheese, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and the same amount of pepper.
In a large skillet with a heat-resistant or removable handle, heat 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Pour the onion into a preheated pan and fry, stirring occasionally, for about 3 minutes. Add spinach to skillet, sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon salt, and cook until wilted, about 2 minutes. Transfer the contents of the pan to a separate bowl
In the same skillet, heat another 2 tablespoons of butter, add the bread cubes, and cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Put out the fire under the pan.
Add spinach and onions to the pan and pour over the egg mixture.
Sprinkle the contents of the pan with the remaining cheese and place in the preheated oven (if the handle is removable, detach it). Bake the omelet in the oven for about 15 minutes, until the eggs are done.
