Yeast Bagels with Meat Filling and Sesame Seeds

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • Milk – 100 ml
  • Margarine (or butter) – 90 g
  • Flour – 225 g (1.5 cups, 250 ml)
  • Dry yeast – 5 g
  • Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1/2 teaspoon

For filling:

  • Beef – 200 g
  • Bulb onions – 1 pc. (80 g)
  • Salt – 1/3 teaspoon
  • Zira (dry seeds) – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper – 1 pinch
  • Egg – for greasing bagels
  • Sesame seeds – for sprinkling bagels

DIrections

  1. Sift the flour into a deep bowl. Add salt, sugar and dry yeast.
    Stir.
  2. Melt margarine or butter in a water bath or microwave and pour into the flour mass.
    Mix a little.
  3. Heat the milk until warm (about 38 degrees) and pour it into the flour mass.
  4. Mix everything and knead a soft dough. Knead it for 10 minutes.
    Cover the dough and place in a warm place for one hour to rise.
  5. For the filling, wash and dry the beef.
    Chop the beef into small pieces.
  6. Peel the onion and cut into thin half or quarter rings, as I cut.
    Put the meat and onions in a bowl and add cumin to them.
  7. Salt and pepper the filling and mix well. Refrigerate the filling for at least 10 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 180 ° C.
    Take out the dough that has come up.
  9. Transfer the dough to a table and divide into two equal portions.
  10. Roll each piece of dough into a five milli thick circle. Make a small slot in the center.
  11. Stretch the dough from the middle to the edge so that a round hole forms in the center.
  12. Divide the filling into two equal parts and spread evenly in a circle on the dough, leaving the edges of the dough free.
  13. Connect the edges of the dough and pinch tightly.
    Thus, form another donut.
  14. Line a baking sheet with baking paper and place the bagels on it, seam side down.
  15. Shake the egg lightly.
    Brush the bagels with an egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  16. Bake the yeast bagels with meat in a hot oven at 180 ° C for 30-35 minutes, until tender.
