Ingredients

  • 1 half onion (s)
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon ½ salt
  • some pepper
  • 2 tablespoon oil (sunflower oil)
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar (best from Gebhardt! No spice vinegar!)
  • possibly herbs, various fresh ones, such as chives or dill

Instructions

  1. Cut the onion into small cubes and place in a bowl with sugar and salt. Mix everything well and press down firmly with a spoon. Then let the whole rest for about 15-20 minutes until the onions have drawn water (this is very important for the later taste of the dressing). Now stir in the pepper, oil and vinegar and finally refine with chopped herbs.
  2. This recipe is suitable for all kinds of salads (tomato salad, cucumber salad, leaf salad, Greek salad, etc.).
  3. If you prefer it a little creamier, you can also stir in a little sour cream, cream or crème fraîche at the end. This tastes particularly delicious with Chinese cabbage.
