Ingredients

  • g 1,000 minced beef
  • 5 medium onion (s)
  • 3 clove (s) garlic
  • 5 large carrot (s)
  • 4 sticks celery
  • 3 packs tomato (s), 400 g each
  • 3 cans tomato (s), peeled in tomato juice, 400 g each
  • Salt and pepper, black
  • Vegetable broth, grained
  • Paprika powder, mild and hot pink
  • olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1 teaspoon sage, dried
  • 1 teaspoon thyme, rubbed
  • 1 teaspoon basil, dried or
  • Herbs, Italian, dried
  • Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Dice the onions and garlic cloves and fry them in olive oil until translucent. Add the ground beef and fry until crumbly.
  2. Dice the carrots, cut the celery stalks into slices and add to the meat along with the tomatoes, the roughly chopped peeled tomatoes and the tomato juice. Season well with vegetable stock, salt, pepper and paprika. If you like, stir in the dried herbs, if you don`t want that, leave them out. We like it better with the herbs.
  3. Let the sauce simmer gently for at least 4 hours. Season again to taste, pour over pasta and sprinkle freshly grated parmesan on top.
  4. I always freeze several portions of this sauce and then have a meal on the table in no time at all.
