Classic “Meat Loaf” (Meat Casserole)

Overseas “meatloaf” or “meatloaf”, and in our opinion – meat casserole, is made from minced meat. Any additives (mushrooms, vegetables, cheese, dried fruits, etc.) can be mixed with minced meat. In this recipe, I will show you how to make the classic Meat Loaf.

Ingredients

  • Minced meat – 300 g
  • Small onion – 1 pc.
  • Small carrots – 1 pc.
  • Garlic – 1 clove
  • Ketchup – 1 glass
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Hot pepper – 1/2 pc.
  • Ground black pepper – to taste
  • Ground nutmeg – 1/8 teaspoon
  • Salt
  • Vegetable oil – for lubricating the mold

Directions

  1. Finely chop the onion. Peel the chili peppers and chop finely. Pass the garlic through a press. Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet, add carrots, onions, and hot peppers. Fry the onions until transparent.
  3. Add 0.5 cups of ketchup and garlic, stir, cook for about 1 minute more. Let the fried vegetables cool slightly, and then mix with the minced meat, add salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  4. Grease an ovenproof dish about 15 cm in diameter with vegetable oil. Place in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 25 minutes.
  5. Then remove the casserole from the oven, brush with the remaining ketchup and bake for another 10-15 minutes. Remove the cooked casserole and serve hot.
