Dry Jelly Pie

The old and half-forgotten recipe of our mothers from the times of scarcity – almost from nothing. Delicious and simple dry jelly pie. πŸ™‚

Ingredients

  • Kissel dry – 220 g
  • Eggs – 3 pcs.
  • Flour – 3-4 tbsp
  • Baking dough – 2 teaspoon (10 g)
  • Apple (medium) – 1 pc. (optional)
  • Walnuts (or other) nuts – 50 g (optional)

Directions

  1. We immediately begin to heat the oven to 180 degrees. We need a briquette-like package of dry jelly weighing 220 grams (any taste, but there is an opinion that raspberry is the brightest). Kissel must be very carefully crumbled into a bowl with your hands.
  2. Add 3 tablespoons of flour to the jelly.
  3. Add 2 teaspoons (10 g) baking powder. Mix everything well.
  4. Break 3 eggs into another bowl.
  5. Beat the eggs with a fork until smooth.
  6. Pour the eggs into the dry mixture and mix everything well again.
  7. We take a baking dish (I have 20 cm in diameter) and cover it with wet parchment: tear off a piece of parchment (with a non-stick coating) to the size of the mold, crumple the parchment under running water or in a bowl of water until it gets completely wet. We squeeze it well, straighten it and either shake off the water, or wipe the parchment with a towel on both sides. Cover the form with parchment prepared in this way.
  8. Pour the dough into the covered mold and put it in the preheated oven. It is difficult to determine the baking time – in each specific oven and in different baking dishes, it will be different. I bake for 20 minutes to start, then skewer the pie. If it is not dry, then I bake further and check the readiness every five minutes. If the top starts to burn, then cover it with foil.
  9. When the cake is finally ready, we immediately take it out of the mold: it is very convenient to do this for parchment. Separate the pie from the parchment and cool – ideally on a wire rack. The pie can be served warm or cold with tea. And you can cut it into layers and use it as cake cakes.
  10. You can go further and turn this pie into something like a charlotte. To do this, take a medium apple, better strong, not friable, peel it from the core and cut it into cubes of the size you like.
  11. Chop 50 grams of walnuts or other nuts in a blender: again, you can cut it into pieces, or you can directly into flour. Add the nuts to the sliced ​​apples. Next, we prepare the dough from dry jelly in the same way as we just cooked it.
  12. When baked, apples sometimes sink to the bottom. To prevent such a nuisance, sprinkle the apple cubes with flour and mix well (literally one tablespoon of flour is enough). And in this form we mix them into the dough.
  13. We cover the form with wet parchment, pour the dough into the form and bake at the same temperature in the same way – until a dry skewer.
