Instructions

  1. Recipe for 8 jars of 212 ml each.
  2. Carefully wash the figs and pat dry, remove the stalk and dice. Then put in a saucepan.
  3. Now the preserving sugar is added and the entire mixture is mixed well with the wooden spoon. Put the lid on and let everything stand for about 1.5 hours at room temperature so that the figs can leave the juice.
  4. Then squeeze the oranges. Add both the juice and the pulp from the citrus press to the figs. Finely chop the orange peel and walnuts with the knife, also add and stir everything well. Let it steep for another 1.5 hours.
  5. Now slowly bring the fruits to the boil, add the rum and cook for 7 minutes while stirring.
  6. Immediately pour the finished jam into the prepared jars, close tightly and turn upside down for about 7 minutes. Then turn it around and wrap it in a bath towel / blanket etc. until it is completely cool.
  7. This fruity fig jam is reminiscent of the Indian summer with its color. The sweet aroma of the figs harmonises wonderfully with the bitter freshness of the oranges, and the tiny pieces of walnut round off this taste experience perfectly.
