Hearts Puffs with Ham and Tomatoes

A simple, original and delicious appetizer for a romantic Valentine’s Day evening – puffs “Hearts” with ham, tomatoes and mustard. These hearty puff snacks can be made on another day, ideal for a weekend breakfast or picnic.

Ingredients

  • Yeast-free puff pastry – 500 g
  • Ham – 100 g
  • Tomato – 1 pc.
  • Egg – 1 pc.
  • Mild mustard – 1 tbsp

Ingredients

  1. Prepare all required ingredients. Defrost the dough in advance. Cover the baking sheet with parchment paper. Turn on the oven to heat up to 200 degrees.
  2. Roll out the dough slightly. Cut two hearts out of cardboard, about 10 and 8 cm high. Using a large cardboard template, cut an even number of dough pieces out of the dough. In half of the dough blanks, cut out the middle using a small cardboard template to form heart-shaped frames.
  3. Collect the rest of the dough into a lump, roll it out again and cut out the heart blanks. There must be an equal number of whole hearts and heart frames
  4. Put the whole dough hearts on a baking sheet and brush with mustard.
  5. Cut the tomatoes into wedges and remove the seeds.
  6. Finely chop the tomato pulp without seeds.
  7. Cut the ham into thin slices.
  8. Using a smaller cardboard template, cut the hearts out of the ham slices.
  9. On top of large hearts, lay out blank-frames in the shape of hearts. Put the ham in the center of half of such blanks, and fill the remaining blanks with chopped tomatoes.
  10. Beat the egg slightly with a fork and brush over the dough. Bake puffs “Hearts” with ham and tomatoes in the oven for about 15-20 minutes.
  11. Snack puffs for February 14 are ready.
