  • 2 romaine lettuce hearts
  • 2 medium onion (s)
  • 400 g ham (Black Forest), thin slices
  • 150 g cream cheese with paprika
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 dash milk
  • some salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Wash the lettuce hearts and shake dry. Lay out the ham slices. Now divide the leaves of the lettuce slightly (do not cut them open) so that you can wrap a slice of ham around the smallest center piece. Press the next leaves on and wrap 2 - 3 slices of ham again. Now press on the outer leaves and wrap the remaining slices of ham around them (if necessary, pin in place with toothpicks).
  2. Place both lettuce hearts in a baking dish. Peel and dice the onions and spread over the salad. Make a marinade from cream cheese, tomato paste and milk (the consistency should be mushy, not runny), season with salt and pepper and spread over the lettuce hearts.
  3. Cover with foil and place in the oven at 200 ° C for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes.
  4. Now distribute 1 lettuce heart with a little sauce on each plate. This goes well with white bread, rice or pasta.
  5. Be careful when salting, as the ham already contains a lot of salt. Do not make the marinade too runny. When cooking, the vegetables (lettuce, onions) give off a lot of juice, which combines with the marinade.
