Ingredients

  • 3 roll (s), from the day before
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 50 grams sugar
  • 1 pinch (s) salt
  • some lemon (s), grated zest
  • 0.5 liter ½ milk
  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • Breadcrumbs

For the sauce:

  • 0.5 ½ pack custard powder, vanilla
  • 0.5 liter ½ milk
  • sugar

Instructions

  1. Grate the rolls and cut in half.
  2. Beat the egg yolks, sugar, salt, lemon zest and milk together well. Soak the rolls in the milk mixture.
  3. Mix the egg white and water, turn the soaked rolls in egg white and breadcrumbs and bake in clarified butter until golden brown.
  4. For the vanilla sauce, bring the milk to the boil and prepare the pudding as prescribed on the package (attention, double the amount of milk is used for the sauce - I have already taken this into account in the recipe).
  5. The portions relate to a sweet main course, if you want to make a dessert out of it, you should only calculate 1/2 bread roll per person.
