Ingredients

  • 1 kg potato (s), floury boiling
  • salt
  • 4 medium onion (s)
  • 180 g butter
  • Nutmeg, freshly grated
  • Pepper, freshly ground

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes, cook them in salted water and mash them.
  2. Peel the onions and cut into thin rings. Heat 4 tablespoon butter in a large saucepan and roast the onions until golden brown.
  3. Add half of the remaining butter and the mashed potatoes. Season well with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Mix everything together well, pile the mixture on a baking sheet and spread it into a thick flatbread. Spread the remaining butter in flakes on top. Bake under the grill for 3-5 minutes until the surface begins to brown.
  4. These gratinated potatoes are delicious with steaks or other grilled meats.
